Annie Lewandowski performed and recorded the songs found on Powerdove Solo at Ranieri Chapel in a 15th century chapel in Umbria, Italy, in September 2014. The elements that inspired the performance and recording came together sweetly and naturally – an abandoned guitar discovered in a castle corner, an empty chapel revealing an exquisite acoustic, a fully-charged Zoom recorder on hand. Visual artist Buster Simpson covered the stone floor with flowering stems of lavender before Annie’s performance. It crunched underfoot as Annie and her audience entered the chapel, unlocking earthy floral scents that combined with the songs, swirling upwards to the heavens.
